Webtec held their annual Garden Party on Sunday 18th of September, at Churchill College in Cambridge. Over 80 people, including employees and their families, attended the event.
Along with the barbeque and bar, there was a magician on hand to confuse people with his tricks, a Jazz Band and the now famous ‘Webtec Olympics’. People were divided into teams to compete in a range of races including: the sack, wheelbarrow, space hopper, relay and football dribbling. The games were finished off with a tug of war!
There was a ‘Super Hero’ theme to this year’s games, so the captains of each team where given costumes to wear, including Captain America, Spiderman, Superman, Wonderwoman and Batman. The winners of the 2011 Webtec Olympics were Captain America and the Blue Team! The team were all presented with medals and, more importantly, the much coveted Webtec Olympics Trophy.
An enjoyable day was had by all and we look forward to next year!

Webtec have recently finished off a number of improvements to their manufacturing and testing capabilities. This includes two new custom designed pressure and flow calibration rigs, which were commissioned at the end of July, and have added essential additional capacity to the instrument assembly department.
In a further step to decrease manufacturing lead times, the company has re-organised the second operations department to provide more room, and a better layout as well investing in a new vibratory de-burring machine to enable machined components to be finished-off more quickly.
These recent investments are two examples of Webtec’s policy of continuous improvement, and continuous investment in its manufacturing facilities in the UK to support future growth. Webtec’s aim remains one of reducing manufacturing lead-times on the wide range of standard and custom products available, while maintaining a high level of product quality.

Trevor Carter retired as Financial Director on the 30th June after more than 21 years working for Webtec.
Trevor is not one to make a fuss so at a small gathering to mark his retirement he was presented with a digital radio from all the staff, a desktop computer from the company and a cut glass plaque to acknowledge his excellent service to the company.
David Wassell has now taken over from Trevor in the role of Financial Controller.
Everyone at Webtec wishes Trevor a very happy retirement.
